Jerrie Mock is a woman in history who is not often talked about. She worked very hard and should receive more recognition for what she did during her life. She was the first woman to fly by herself around the world. Her trip lasted 29 days. Because of this great accomplishment, Mock earned a very important medal.

Later, a statue was built in Mock's honor. Today, you can find the statue in Ohio. It was created to be the size of Mock. The statue is even designed to show the same clothes that Mock wore during her flight around the world, which includes a skirt. Some people say that Mock didn't like to wear skirts, though. The only reason she did was because that's what women were expected to wear during that time.
