In 3-5 sentences, evaluate whether this was a positive or negative change. Describe 2-3 New Deal programs that were effective or ineffective to support your evaluation.

The New Deal was a positive change overall as it implemented numerous programs to alleviate the impacts of the Great Depression. Two effective programs were the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and the Social Security Act. The CCC provided jobs for young, unemployed men while simultaneously promoting conservation and environmental restoration. The Social Security Act introduced a system of unemployment insurance, retirement pensions, and aid for disabled individuals, providing a measure of economic security for millions of Americans. On the other hand, the Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA) was largely ineffective as it sought to increase crop prices by reducing production, leading to agricultural waste and displacement of sharecroppers and tenant farmers. Additionally, the National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA) was declared unconstitutional and had limited success in reviving industrial production and aiding laborers.
