The Alamo was a battle fought during the Texas Revolution in which a small group of Texan soldiers, including frontiersman Davy Crockett, defended a mission in San Antonio against Mexican forces led by General Santa Anna. The Texans were ultimately defeated and killed, but their bravery and sacrifice became a symbol of resistance and independence for Texas.
