As Amanda rode down the avenue in the taxi, she gazed out the window and sighed deeply. Only last week she had arrived, and now it was time to leave again. At a red light, a woman about Amanda’s age passed in front of the cab. She walked with the ease and confidence of a local. Amanda wished that they could have switched places. In the taxi, Amanda’s hand clutched the program from the Broadway show she had just seen. “I’ll be back,” she whispered longingly to herself.
