It encompasses all the rational numbers (which can be expressed as a fraction) and the irrational numbers (which cannot be expressed as a fraction and usually have infinite non-repeating decimal representations). Real numbers include whole numbers, integers, fractions, decimals, and square roots of non-perfect squares, among others.
