Christopher Columbus- write a letter to the King and Queen of Spain
Your Majesties,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I write to you with great excitement and anticipation, as I believe I have discovered a new route to the East Indies. With your permission and support, I propose to undertake a grand voyage to explore and expand our knowledge of the world.
During my previous journeys, I have witnessed the vast potential of the unknown lands. Encouraged by my findings and driven by a burning desire to excel in the service of Your Majesties, I seek your gracious patronage to embark upon a grand expedition across the Atlantic Ocean.
My aim is to find a direct route to the East Indies, bypassing the arduous trip around Africa. Having studied the works of ancient scholars and extensively researched the maps and charts available, I am convinced that by sailing west, one can reach the lands of extraordinary wealth and abundance.
I humbly request your Majesties to provide me with three ships and a crew of skilled men, who would be willing to accompany me on this perilous journey. I assure you that I will do everything in my power to sail this uncharted territory with utmost care and determination.
In return for your generosity, I promise to bring back resources and riches beyond imagination. I envision a prosperous future for our great nation, where our dominion extends beyond the known world. The potential for trade and exploration is immense, which would consequently enhance our economy and elevate our reputation in the eyes of the world.
I understand the concerns and hesitations that such a venture may raise. However, I reassure Your Majesties that I have taken all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our men and the success of our expedition. I have meticulously planned the voyage, taking into account the challenges we may face, and I am confident in our ability to triumph over any obstacles.
Your Majesties, I implore you to consider my plea with an open mind and a bold spirit. Together, we can embark on an unprecedented journey, marking the beginning of a new era of exploration and discovery. I promise to serve you and our beloved Spain with unwavering loyalty and dedication, and I humbly request your blessing and support in this grand endeavor.
