The last great obstacle before Rivendell is the Misty Mountains. It is a vast and treacherous mountain range that blocks the way to the hidden valley of Rivendell, also known as Imladris. The Misty Mountains are depicted as rugged, perilous, and prone to severe weather conditions. The highest peak in this range is Caradhras, also called the Redhorn, which poses a significant challenge for the Fellowship of the Ring. They have to cross the mountains through the treacherous Redhorn Pass, where they encounter great snowstorms and face the threat of avalanches.
