Budding in yeast is a form of asexual reproduction. During budding, a small protrusion (bud) forms on the parent yeast cell, and eventually grows and detaches to become a new independent yeast cell. No fusion of gametes or genetic material transfer occurs, making it a type of asexual reproduction.
