All cells have plasma membranes. The plasma membrane, also known as the cell membrane, is a thin, flexible, and selectively permeable barrier that surrounds the cytoplasm of cells. It is present in all cell types, including prokaryotic cells (such as bacteria) and eukaryotic cells (such as animal and plant cells).
