While no region in Arkansas is completely immune to the possibility of earthquakes, the New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ) is the most seismically active area in the state. The NMSZ covers parts of northeastern Arkansas, along with neighboring states such as Missouri, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Therefore, people living in northeastern Arkansas are more likely to experience a damaging earthquake compared to other regions in the state.
