What happened at the 15th amendment?

The 15th Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified on February 3, 1870. It granted African American men the right to vote. It prohibited the denial or restriction of voting rights based on race, color, or previous condition of servitude. The amendment was a significant step towards enfranchising African Americans and ensuring equal voting rights regardless of race. However, it took many years for this amendment to be fully enforced and for African Americans to exercise their voting rights due to various discriminatory practices, such as poll taxes, literacy tests, and intimidation.
