Know direct primary, recall, referendum and initiative.

Direct primary: A direct primary is a type of election where voters directly choose the candidates who will represent their political party in the general election. This process allows voters to have a more direct say in selecting the candidates who will appear on the ballot.

Recall: Recall is a political process through which voters can petition for the removal of an elected official from office before their term is over. If enough valid signatures are collected on the recall petition, a special recall election is held to determine whether the official should be removed from office.

Referendum: A referendum is a direct vote by the general public on a particular issue or policy question. This allows citizens to express their opinions and help make decisions on important matters that impact their community or country. Referendums can be used to decide issues such as constitutional amendments, major policy changes, or the approval of laws.

Initiative: An initiative is a process that allows citizens to propose new laws or changes to existing laws through a petition. If enough valid signatures are collected on the initiative petition, the proposed law or amendment is placed on the ballot for a direct vote by the public. Initiatives give citizens the opportunity to directly participate in the legislation process and have a greater influence over the laws that govern them.
