Conduction is the transfer of heat or electricity through a medium, such as a solid or a fluid, by direct contact between particles or molecules. In the case of heat conduction, it occurs when there is a temperature difference between two objects in contact with each other, and the heat energy moves from the object with higher temperature to the object with lower temperature until thermal equilibrium is reached.
