Alexander Hamilton was a prominent figure in the founding of the U.S. government. As a delegate to the Constitutional Convention, he played a key role in shaping the structure of the new nation. Hamilton was instrumental in the ratification of the Constitution, authoring the majority of the Federalist Papers which provided a defense of the Constitution and helped sway public opinion. As the first Secretary of the Treasury, he laid the groundwork for economic stability by creating a national bank, advocating for tariffs, and establishing a system of public credit.
