The political party that emerged out of the farmers' movements of the late 1800s in the United States was the Populist Party, also known as the People's Party. The Populists aimed to represent the interests of farmers and laborers and advocated for reforms such as the regulation of railroads, an increase in the money supply, and the direct election of senators. They experienced significant growth in the 1890s but ultimately declined following the presidential election of 1896.
