Transformations and congruence quick check

1) A translation is a transformation that moves each point of a figure the same distance in the same direction. It does not change the shape or size of the figure, only its position.

2) A reflection is a transformation that flips a figure over a line called the line of reflection. The shape and size of the figure remain the same, but its orientation changes.

3) A rotation is a transformation that turns a figure around a fixed point called the center of rotation. The shape and size of the figure remain the same, but its orientation changes.

4) Congruence means that two figures have the same size and shape. In other words, they are identical to each other. Two figures are congruent if they can be superimposed on top of each other.

5) Congruent figures have congruent corresponding parts, such as corresponding angles and corresponding sides.
