What is germination of a seed

Germination is the process by which a seed develops into a new plant. It begins when a seed absorbs water, which activates enzymes and triggers biochemical reactions within the seed. As a result, the outer seed coat softens and the embryo inside the seed starts to grow. The embryo then develops roots, followed by the emergence of a shoot or a stem that grows upwards towards the surface. Once the shoot reaches the surface, it forms leaves, allowing the plant to perform photosynthesis and grow further. The process of germination requires favorable environmental conditions, such as adequate water, suitable temperature, and proper light conditions.
