The Cheyenne adapted to a nomadic life by building shelters like teepees. These portable and easily assembled structures made it possible for the Cheyenne to move frequently in search of food and resources. Teepees were made of wooden poles covered with animal hides, providing a sturdy and weather-resistant shelter. They were also easily dismantled and transported to new locations, allowing the Cheyenne to follow the herds of buffalo and other game they relied on for survival.
