Down Highway 41

by D. U. Derino

A few miles past the sundry store
Down Highway 41,
A tiny little shack stands lonesome in the field.
The structure appears out of place
5 Like a crop circle in a corn field,
But at sundown its purpose reveals itself.
As night rides in on its chariot
It carries with it people from throughout the county.
Music fills the air.
10 Sweet blues
And rockabilly.
And the trials of the day melt away
As the people dance and laugh and leave the world behind
In a shack a few miles past the sundry store
15 Down Highway 41.
