They formed alliances and traded for furs, and often intermarried with Indigenous peoples. English colonizers had a more hostile relationship with Indigenous tribes, frequently displacing them from their lands and engaging in conflicts and wars. They also sought to assimilate Indigenous peoples into English culture and religion.
