Think about your personal food choices: How do you decide what you will eat on a daily basis? What sorts of things influence your decision? What is the most significant factor for you? Time in your schedule? Ease of selection? Type of food? Where the food is obtained? How long it might take to cook the food? Flavor? Freshness? Source? Family Traditions? What you’ve learned about food in school or from friends?

There are many factors that affect the food choices that I make. What I eat on a daily basis depends on factors such as what time of day it is, how long it will take to cook or prepare the food, and many more aspects. Therefore, my decision is influenced by factors such as how much time I have, how easy it is to select the food, the type of food, and where the food is obtained.
One important factor that I take into account when making my food choices is how long it will take to prepare the food. This factor goes hand in hand with my schedule and how long I have to eat. Usually, I will go for the foods that take less time to prepare, and give me more time for other activities. Also, just like everyone else, I have my favorite foods. Therefore, the type of food that is available is another important factor. Moreover, where the food is obtained from is essential as well. Being short on time, I need food that I can easily obtain. All of these factors have a great influence on the foods that I choose to eat.
In addition, flavor and freshness of the food must be taken into account. Obviously everyone has different tastes, and I like foods that appeal to my flavor. Furthermore, the freshness of the food available is an equally important factor. Fresh foods such as vegetables are high in nutrients, and therefore more preferable than canned foods.
Possibly one of the biggest factors in food selection is family values and traditions. This factor is extremely important to my family in particular because we have very specific and strict rules we must follow when selecting foods. For example, we cannot consume foods containing pork, or other meats. We can only eat goat and cow meat. Therefore, when selecting foods, it is important for me to look at the ingredients and decide if I can eat it or not. Thus, all of the factors that I have listed highly affect the food choices that I make in my everyday life.

You can be more original than that. You can also go into more detail.

Start with breakfast. What do you normally eat? Why?

What about lunch?

Snacks?

Dinner?

We obviously can't tell you how you make your food choices.

Do you decide to snack on an apple rather or a cookie?

How do you decide on what to cook for your family?

Do you decide to have another helping of green beans or another helping of mashed potatoes?

The key words for this essay are: Think about your personal food choices

(sorry for so many posts, i don't know why only one paragraph was posting at a time. this is all)

I just read the rest of the essay. It's full of generalities. BE SPECIFIC!

ok,...i will try to start writing my own. then post it up

this is what i wrote. is there anything i should take out? because i think it's going a little bit over the word limit.:

There are many factors that affect the food choices that I make. The way I decide what I will eat on a regular basis usually depends on my mood. There are times when I don’t feel like going the healthy way. There are also many other times when I want to stay on a healthy diet and have balance in my eating. There are many things that influence my decision on what to eat during the day.

The first thing I look for in food is taste. This is something that matters to most people, but people have different views about this. My view is that the food should be healthy and tasty at the same time. So even on a busy day when I’m running late for something, I prepare my meal according to my taste and flavor.

Another thing that matters to me in food selection is freshness. To me freshness means going the most natural way possible. For example, if I have a choice between fresh vegetables, or frozen/canned vegetables, I would rather buy fresh no matter what the cost. Availability is another factor that comes into this, that is why I like to keep fresh food in store rather than frozen or canned.

Family traditions are something that is one of the biggest factors in selecting food. For some people, it is very easy to go and buy anything that they feel like having at the time. For me, I would have to go and check the ingredients on every little thing, seeing if it contains alcohol, or any animal preservatives. Just like that my religion and my culture do not allow me to go to a regular grocery store and buy chicken or beef or any type of meat. I would have to go to a special store, where they only sell hand slaughtered meat that is cut on the name of God. Pork is something that is not allowed in any case. So before deciding on my daily food choices, and my preference of food selection, these are all the factors I have to consider.
