However, Simba's uncle Scar plots to take over the kingdom and kills Simba's father, Mufasa. Scar convinces Simba that he is responsible for Mufasa's death, causing Simba to flee into exile.

During his time away from the Pride Lands, Simba befriends Timon and Pumbaa, a meerkat and warthog duo who teach him to live a carefree life. However, as he grows older, Simba is reminded of his responsibility and destiny to become king when his childhood friend Nala finds him. Together, they decide to confront Scar and reclaim the throne.

The Lion King received critical acclaim upon its release and became a box office success. It also won two Academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song, with the iconic song "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" performed by Elton John.

This re-release included enhanced animation and sound, making it an even more immersive experience for viewers. The 1997 release helped further solidify The Lion King's status as an animated classic and a beloved film for generations of audiences to enjoy.
