On the map of Europe, Germany lies in the central-western part of the continent. It shares borders with Denmark to the north, Poland and the Czech Republic to the east, Austria and Switzerland to the south, and France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands to the west. To the northeast, Germany also has a coastline along the Baltic Sea, and to the north, it has a coastline along the North Sea.
