Protein synthesis is the process by which proteins are synthesized within cells. This process involves two main stages: transcription and translation. During transcription, the genetic information in a cell's DNA is copied to a molecule of messenger RNA (mRNA). The mRNA then travels to a ribosome, where translation occurs. Here, the genetic code on the mRNA is read and translated into a sequence of amino acids, which are joined together to form a protein.
