In 3-4 sentences, respond to the following:

In your own words, define the terms loyalist and patriot.
If you were alive during the American Revolution, do you think you would be a loyalist or a patriot? Why? In your response, be sure to include possible political, social, and economic reasons for your choice.

A loyalist is a person who remained loyal to the British monarchy and opposed the American Revolution. A patriot, on the other hand, is someone who supported and fought for the independence of the American colonies from British rule. If I were alive during the American Revolution, I believe I would be a patriot because I would have been motivated by the desire for self-governance, and the belief in the principles of liberty, equality, and democracy. Additionally, the economic incentives for a patriot may include the desire for fair trade and economic opportunities within the newly formed United States.
