1.12 Strategic leadership involves managing through others and influencing human behaviour in order to achieve goals. The key responsibilities of a strategic leader are as follows (Ehlers and Lazenby, 2007:223). (1)

H. Being accountable for the overall performance and results of the organization

I. Continuously monitoring and evaluating the internal and external environment to identify opportunities and threats that may impact the organization's success

J. Developing and implementing strategies to address the identified opportunities and threats

K. Building a diverse and high-performing team by recruiting, developing, and retaining talented individuals

L. Providing coaching and mentorship to employees to support their professional growth and development

M. Fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement to drive organizational success

N. Managing change effectively and leading the organization through periods of transformation or uncertainty.
