South Carolina responded to the Intolerable Acts by organizing the First Provincial Congress in 1774. The Congress met in response to the acts and issued a petition to King George III expressing their grievances and calling for the repeal of the acts. They also established a Committee of Correspondence to communicate with other colonies and coordinate resistance efforts. Additionally, South Carolina began to actively support and participate in boycotts of British goods as a form of protest against the Intolerable Acts.
