In my journal, I described two kinds of things that we classify using a system involving numbers: prime numbers and composite numbers.

Prime numbers are numbers that are only divisible by 1 and themselves, such as 2, 3, 5, and 7. By using numbers, we can easily sort all the positive whole numbers into prime and composite categories. We can determine if a number is prime by checking if it has any divisors other than 1 and itself. This system helps us identify the unique properties of prime numbers and understand their behavior.

On the other hand, composite numbers are the numbers that are not prime and can be divided evenly by numbers other than 1 and themselves, such as 4, 6, 8, and 9. By using numbers, we can easily differentiate between prime and composite numbers. This system is useful in various mathematical calculations, especially when dealing with factors and multiples.

Now, let's discuss the usefulness of the systems described by my classmates.
