Scout believes that she ruined the pageant because during the play, she misunderstood her role and missed her cue. She was supposed to come out on stage at the appropriate time and deliver her lines but accidentally fell asleep backstage. Consequently, she missed her entrance and appeared on stage at the wrong time, causing confusion and disruption to the performance. She feels guilty for messing up the pageant and believes that her mistake ruined the whole event.
