Street Lights in the Neighborhood
Did you know that most car accidents happen at night? In my neighborhood, we barely have any street lights to illuminate the street. There are street lights but, the amount is limited. My family asked the construction workers when they're going to add more lights to our street. The construction workers told us that they’re going to put up more lights when they get more government funding and when they finish all of the houses. Today, I’m going to cover how many streetlights my neighborhood has, how it is not safe for the community, and how streetlights keep criminals at bay.
The approximate amount of street lights in my neighborhood is roughly 60-98. This may seem like a lot but it's not because our neighborhood has more than 50 houses and this amount is not even close to enough to cover the whole neighborhood. “Streetlights play an important role in creating safer streets – whether by preventing traffic accidents or reducing crime. I interviewed my dad and he said, “I feel like it's dangerous for kids when they walk to the bus stop.” I also interviewed my mother and she gave a completely different answer. She stated that children should be accompanied by their parents if they are going to go to the bus stop. Streetlights improve the quality of a neighborhood and make it safer for citizens to live. During another interview with my sister, Aja, she gave a tip on how to prevent accidents from happening. She said, “If cars and trucks are parked on the side of the road when there are no lights, somebody will get in an accident…I suggest they move their vehicles to make the roads safer.”

Sometimes robbers are spotted during the day, but it is less common to see them due to them not having anything covering their faces. There are ways to spot robbers quickly and effectively. Many people use doorbell cameras to prevent criminals from stealing, most often criminals see these cameras and cover their faces. Police Departments are still trying to find ways to prevent robberies from happening by asking people to install certain apps, buy and put up cameras, and call 911 if they see a robbery happen.
