What type of tissues make up the vascular cambium ?

The vascular cambium is composed of meristematic cells (undifferentiated cells) that give rise to both xylem and phloem tissues. As these cells divide and differentiate, they create new layers of vascular tissue that allow for secondary growth in plants. Specifically, the vascular cambium produces secondary xylem (wood) and secondary phloem (inner bark).

The vascular cambium is made up of two types of tissues: the fusiform initials and the ray initials.
