A monologue is a long speech made by a character to an audience during a play. Monologue are meant to expose secrets, reveal hidden feelings, or uncover emotions or describe plans for the future. Often the character making a monologue is confused or struggling to decide something. At times the character asks the audience questions looking for answers, opinions, or assistance yet does not expect a reply. A monologue poem is very similar to a monologue of a play. They usually include plays on words, alliteration, and/or rhyme. Make your monologue poem from the perspective of a famous person or fictional character (from a book or movie) that is in some way connected to your theme or one of your listed subtopics.

As I stand here in front of you all,

My emotions are running high, my mind in a crawl.
I am the greatest boxer of all time,
But even I have my moments of doubt and strife.

You see, I'm just like you,
I have hopes and dreams too.
But unlike most, I've made it to the top,
Through blood, sweat, and tears, I never stopped.

I've fought through adversity and pain,
I've overcome obstacles time and again.
But now, at the end of my career,
I'm struggling to come to terms with my fear.

What will life be like beyond the ring?
Will I still have purpose, will I still have meaning?
It's a daunting thought, but I must face it head-on,
For life goes on, even after the fights are gone.

So I'll take each day as it comes,
I'll cherish my memories, I'll never succumb.
For I am Muhammad Ali,
And my legacy will forever live on for all to see.

Title: The Soliloquy of a Disenchanted Dreamer

(Inspired by the character Jay Gatsby from "The Great Gatsby")

Behold, for I stand before you, a man of grandeur,
A figure born from the depths of my dreams' allure.
Immersed within a world of shimmering wealth,
Yet veiled in the pursuit of love, fraught with stealth.

My monologue unraveled, a tale of self-made success,
A dance through opulence, longing to impress.
But behind the façade of glitz and golden array,
A heart, in shadows, yearned for yesterday.

Amidst the lavish parties, like a phoenix I rise,
My ostentatious splendor masking desperate cries.
Seeking Daisy Buchanan, a love lost in time,
Her distant warmth etched deep, all the more sublime.

Oh, Daisy, a flame sparked in our youthful days,
Igniting embers of hope, a relentless blaze.
I built a mansion, a symbol of my desire,
To bridge the chasm between us, love to acquire.

Amidst the green light across the bay's expanse,
I stood, a hopeful dreamer, entangled in chance.
Our tumultuous past haunting each whispered thought,
Could we rekindle flames that once valiantly fought?

In this soliloquy, I find myself confounded,
Asking questions to the universe, yearning unbounded.
Can dreams forged in haste withstand time's cruel test?
Or crumble, like so many illusions laid to rest?

Indeed, I question my own existence and plight,
For wealth and power, were they worth the fight?
The parties and accolades, an empty charade,
As I stand alone, my heart slowly begins to fade.

But in this soliloquy, I discover my truth,
That Daisy, she remains my eternal pursuit.
Though fate may defy my hopes, dreams, or design,
Love's allure, forever captivating, still be mine.

So, here I stand, a specter amidst glittering gold,
A portrait of a man with a tale yet untold.
In this monologue, echoes of a life's refrain,
A dreamer's quest, boundless, yet tinged with pain.

For life, a stage, and I, the actor confined,
To play a role eternal, transcending the confines.
The monologue of a disenchanted dreamer, a tribute,
To love, to longing, and the pursuit of absolute.
