When race day came, Hare darted out of sight immediately. Tortoise plodded along, never once thinking about giving up. Hare wanted to prove that he was a good sport. So, he lay down to take a nap. He woke up to see that Tortoise was very close to the finish line. Hare could never overtake Tortoise! Slow and steady had won the race!
