All three biogeochemical cycles are affected by climate change, but the carbon cycle is the one most directly impacted. Rising greenhouse gas emissions, primarily from burning fossil fuels, are causing an increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide, which is disrupting the natural balance of the carbon cycle and leading to global warming.
