A simple example of convection is boiling water in a pot. As the water at the bottom of the pot heats up, it becomes less dense and rises to the surface, while the cooler water at the top sinks down to the bottom. This creates a circular flow of hot water rising and cooler water sinking, resulting in convection currents.
