What caused the K-Pg extinction

The K-Pg extinction, also known as the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event, was caused by a massive asteroid impact that occurred approximately 66 million years ago. The impact caused a global scale disaster, including massive wildfires, tsunamis, and an atmospheric shock wave, which resulted in the extinction of 75% of all plant and animal species, including the dinosaurs. The impact also caused long-term climate disturbances, including a period of global cooling, acid rain, and a reduction in the availability of sunlight, which further contributed to the extinction of a significant proportion of marine and terrestrial species.
