A temporary stop to fighting

A temporary stop to fighting is known as a ceasefire. It is a temporary agreement between two or more parties to halt hostilities and provides an opportunity for negotiations to take place so that a permanent resolution can be achieved. Ceasefires can be declared during wars, conflicts, or other situations where violence is occurring. They can be announced unilaterally by one side or through negotiations between parties involved in the conflict. Ceasefires can last for a short period of time or can be extended for longer periods, depending on the progress made in negotiations.
