Distinguish between a magnetic and non-magnetic substance

A magnetic substance is one that is capable of being magnetized or attracted by a magnet. These substances include iron, cobalt and nickel. They have magnetic fields that cause them to stick to magnets, and they can be used to create or enhance magnetic fields.

On the other hand, a non-magnetic substance is one that is not affected by magnetic fields. Some examples of non-magnetic substances include wood, plastic, glass, and rubber. These substances do not have magnetic fields or any other properties that would make them magnetic, and they cannot be attracted to magnets.
