Which legislation gave large grants of land to states to establish agricultural colleges

The legislation that gave large grants of land to states to establish agricultural colleges is known as the Morrill Land-Grant Acts. The first Morrill Act was passed by Congress in 1862, and it granted each state 30,000 acres of federal land for each member of Congress the state had. The second Morrill Act of 1890 provided additional funding to the states that had already established colleges under the first act, and it also mandated that states that did not have colleges yet needed to establish them specifically for the education of black students, in order to receive the federal funds.
