During which phase of mitosis do the chromosomes align at the middle part of the cell?

The phase of mitosis during which chromosomes align at the middle part of the cell is called Metaphase. In metaphase, the spindle fibers from opposite poles of the cell bind to the kinetochores of each pair of sister chromatids, causing the chromosomes to move into a line along the equator or metaphase plate of the cell, ready to be separated by the spindle fibers in the next phase, anaphase.
