One figure from the civil rights movement in Georgia is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was a prominent civil rights activist who was instrumental in leading the Montgomery bus boycott and the March on Washington which helped bring about the Civil Rights Act of 1964. He was known for his powerful speeches and emphasis on nonviolent protest. Dr. King's activism helped to dismantle segregation and racial discrimination in the United States and he is recognized as one of the most important figures in American history.
