Why are incandescent light bulbs considered to be lower efficiency than LED bulbs?

Incandescent light bulbs are considered to be lower efficiency than LED bulbs because they produce light by heating a filament until it glows, which requires a lot of energy. In contrast, LED bulbs produce light by passing an electric current through a semiconductor material, which is much more efficient.

Incandescent bulbs also waste a lot of energy as heat, which is not useful for lighting. In fact, up to 90% of the energy used by an incandescent bulb is wasted as heat. LED bulbs, on the other hand, produce very little heat and are much more efficient at converting electricity into light.

Overall, LED bulbs are much more energy-efficient than incandescent bulbs, which is why they are becoming increasingly popular for lighting applications.
