Henry VIII was married to Catherine of Aragon for 24 years before divorcing her in order to marry Anne Boleyn. Catherine's daughter, Mary I, was the result of this marriage. Mary I was later declared illegitimate by her father and was excluded from the line of succession. Mary I later became Queen of England after the death of her half-brother, Edward VI. Henry VIII's actions towards Catherine of Aragon and Mary I had a lasting impact on the English Reformation.
