The Proclamation of 1763 was an official proclamation issued by King George III of Great Britain at the end of the Seven Years' War. It forbade all settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains in order to appease Native American tribes who had sided with the British during the war. The proclamation also established the British colonies of Quebec and East Florida.
