Many of Utah's cities and towns are located in

the Great Basin. What is the Great Basin?

The Great Basin is a large area of land in the western United States that is bounded by the Sierra Nevada and Cascade mountain ranges to the west and the Rocky Mountains to the east. It is a region of internal drainage, meaning that all of the water that falls within the basin is eventually lost to evaporation or sinks into the ground. The Great Basin is home to many of Utah's cities and towns, as well as a variety of unique plants and animals.
