Approximately 80,000 loyalists fled to Canada during and right after the Revolutionary War. Why do you think they left?

The loyalists left because they were loyal to the British Crown and did not want to live in a newly independent United States. They feared that they would be persecuted for their loyalty to the British and that their rights would not be respected in the new nation. Many of them also had strong economic ties to Britain and wanted to remain connected to the British Empire.
