Why do capybaras live in South America?

Capybaras are native to South America and are found in the tropical rainforests, swamps, and grasslands of the continent. They are well adapted to the humid climate and have a thick coat of fur to protect them from the elements. They also have webbed feet which help them to swim and navigate the wetlands. Capybaras are herbivores and feed on grasses, aquatic plants, and fruits. They are social animals and live in groups of up to 20 individuals.
