Magnetic declination is worst near the magnetic poles, where the difference between true north and magnetic north is greatest. The geographic locations of the magnetic poles are constantly shifting, but they are currently located in the Arctic Ocean near the northern coast of Canada and in Antarctica near the coast of Queen Maud Land.
