The High Plains Aquifer, also known as the Ogallala Aquifer, is a large underground water source that spans eight states in the United States. It is the primary source of water for many of the states in the region, including Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Unfortunately, the aquifer is being depleted at an alarming rate due to over-pumping and drought. The aquifer is being depleted faster than it can be replenished, leading to a decrease in water availability and an increase in water scarcity. This is a major problem for the region, as it threatens the livelihoods of farmers and other people who rely on the aquifer for their water supply.
