There are many activities you can do to entertain your 9 year old. Depending on their interests, you could take them to a local amusement park, go to the movies, take them to a museum, go bowling, or take them to a local park or playground. You could also plan a game night with their friends or have a family game night. Other activities could include baking, arts and crafts, or playing board games.
